Bar on the beach of Magaluf

Magaluf is a popular tourist destination in Mallorca, and, in recent years has been especially attractive to the younger holiday maker. With its many bars and nightclubs, there is lots to do in the evening and, in fact, most of the twenty four hours of the day.

Location and Climate

Magaluf is situated on the western side of Mallorca, close to Palma Nova and 24 km away from Palma Airport.
As a whole, Mallorca is milder in May and September; the hottest month is August when the average temperature reaches 25 degrees C. Then swimming in the sea is extremely pleasant, and there is no danger of feeling cold at all!

Why is Magaluf so popular with younger tourists?

Apart from the climate and the beaches, the main attraction is the many bars and clubs. The downside of this for other visitors is that many visitors take advantage of the long licensing hours to overindulge in alcohol, and often their behaviour is a direct consequence of heavy drinking. However, the authorities in Magaluf are taking steps to curb bad behaviour.

Things to see and do in Magaluf

It’s fair to say that Magaluf isn’t strictly a family holiday destination or the place to go for a quiet break, so most of the activities available are quite lively; having said that, cheap accommodation could make it an inexpensive base from which to visit other parts of the island. The most raucous areas are BCM Square and The Strip. It’s best to go to Magaluf with an open mind; but if you want a quieter time, and still want to go to Magaluf, take advantage of some of the less boisterous activities listed. You’ll still have a good time! For example go on a tour: Try scuba diving, or go on a boat trip with swimming included. You may even see dolphins!

Water-Park in Magaluf

Visit an amusement park: There are no less than three amusement parks in Magaluf; Sol Wave House, where you can surf away from the sea, Katmandu Park with its many rides and activities (lots are suitable for children), and Western Water Park, also good for children.
Go to a show: Not to be missed is the Pirates Adventure Show; this show has everything, including acrobats and audience participation. Food and drink is included in the ticket price.

Visit a nightclub: For house music visit The Project, Magaluf’s dedicated house music venue. There is also BCM Planet Dance, considered the hottest destination; it is hosting Cream Mallorca this summer of 2015. Visit a popular bar: The Piano Bar in Magaluf has great reviews. It is the place to go in if you fancy a quieter evening, with its friendly staff and great entertainment.
